Keeping the Hype Train Going for This G.I. Joe Movie!

BY DESTRO DESIGNS – VIPER DEN STUDIOS

It’s been a while since Danny McBride made his appearance on the Josh Horowitz podcast that ignited so much speculation and optimism in regard to the G.I. Joe movie he has written and is directing.

We’ve talked about all the individual points that lead us to believe that he’s a true fan, trying to make the movie that we all want. I feel like I was going to be optimistic just for the sake of being optimistic in regard to the movie’s quality, but the more McBride kept talking, the more I felt like this was really happening, that we’re really getting a dope Joe flick.

And then some time went by, and the fever cooled a little bit, letting the hype simmer. And then BAM, we get the announcement that Bradley Cooper is being locked in as Duke, the leader of the Joe squad, whose team will be the center of the movie in Springfield, a town secretly run by Cobra.

Despite what you may think of the choice, it’s exciting to see some action happening and to know the ball is still rolling toward filming the movie.

I also feel like having a star of the caliber of Bradley Cooper means that the studio is trying to put its best foot forward and cast known actors who will bring the heat. Now, there have been a few people who are of the idea that the best move for casting is to hire a bunch of unknowns. And while I fully understand and do not necessarily disagree, I just happen to really like Bradley Cooper, and I’m excited that he’s getting a role as such.

His age, big square jaw, and experience starring in military-driven movies like The A-Team and, of course, portraying Chris Kyle in American Sniper, as well as roles in Aloha and War Dogs.

I recently saw on the timeline somebody recommend Josh Brolin as Major Bludd, and I have to say I’m in on that too. (Sorry to whoever posted that; I can’t remember.)

I think there are a few characters that are super important, especially the main players like Cobra Commander, Destro, and the Baroness.

The Rise of Cobra fumbled the bag so badly on Destro and the Baroness that I’m fretting something fierce about what that’s gonna be like.

That said, I’m still rocket-ship-style excited and can’t freaking wait for more information.
